- 1). Clean any dirt or excess grime off of the nickel plated item using soap and water. Apply the soap directly to the nickel, hold the item under running water and rub the soiled areas with your fingers. Do not use scouring pads or other abrasives, which will damage the nickel surface.
- 2). Dry the nickel plated item with a clean rag. Apply a small amount of the chrome polish to another clean rag.
- 3). Rub the nickel plated item with the chrome polish on the rag. It may take several minutes to completely polish the item, particularly if there is a lot of discoloration or corrosion on the surface.
- 4). Buff the nickel plated item with a part of the rag that does not have chrome polish on it. If the finish requires additional cleaning, apply more chrome polish and repeat the procedure.
