- 1). Insert the Windows XP installation disc into the CD-ROM drive of your computer and then click on the "Start" button from your desktop. Move your mouse over the "Shut Down" option and then click on the "Restart" option.
- 2). Press the "R" key on your keyboard when the Welcome to Setup screen appears. The Recovery Console screen will then appear.
- 3). Enter your administrator password if prompted. Press the "Enter" key if the administrator password field is blank.
- 4). Enter "diskpart/add\Device\HardDisk0\Partition1" into the command prompt. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard. The boot recovery partition will then be created.
- 5). Enter "exit" into the command line and then press the "Enter" key. You computer will restart and you will close out of the Recovery Console.
