- 1). Connect your computer to any of the numbered ports on the back of the access point using the Ethernet cable.
- 2). Launch a Web browser on the computer, then navigate to the designated Web address for the access point's configuration utility. The address depends on the make and model of the access point. For example, for a Linksys WRT54GS, the default address is "192.168.1.1"
- 3). Enter the user name and password to log in as Administrator.
- 4). Navigate the configuration utility to the wireless security settings, then enter a new password. For example, for a WRT54GS, click on "Wireless," then on "Wireless security." Enter the new password in the "Key 1" field if you are using WEP security, or in the "WPA shared key" field if you are using WPA security. Click on "Save settings." At that point, you will have changed the password for the wireless network.
