Adding Another iPod to iTunes

    ITunes

    • When you purchase your iPod, you will need to download iTunes from the Internet. ITunes is the free media player which will allow you to upload content to the device. It is available for download via iTunes.com. Once downloaded you will need to open the newly downloaded file to open the iTunes installation wizard. From here you must follow the prompts to complete the setup. Once iTunes has finished installing it will ask you if you would like to perform a scan for all of the music currently on the computer. Click "OK" and the music stored on the system will be placed into files and playlists on iTunes. To access the music click the album title on the left had side of the iTunes window. The songs will now be displayed in the middle of the screen. Select a song you want to play and click the "Play" button.

    Connect the new iPod

    • When adding a new iPod to iTunes, you will need to sync the device with your computer, the same as you would with the other iPod. To do this, insert the provided USB cable into the port on the bottom of the iPod. Plug the other end of the iPod into the computer. After a moment the computer will detect the music player and iTunes will launch automatically.

    Adding the new iPod

    • When iTunes has launched it will detect the new iPod. A window will appear and state it has detected a new iPod and ask if you would like to sync it to the computer. Click "OK" and the device will be wiped clean (if it is a new iPod this shouldn't be a problem because there will be nothing on the device). The music and other content will be uploaded to the device. Because all the music and other content must be installed onto the iPod, it may take several minutes (depending on how much information you have to add). When completed you will be asked to name the device. Give your iPod a unique name (different from the other iPods which connect to the computer). From now on, every time you connect this iPod to the computer it will detect it as the name you have given it.
