- 1). Mix 1/4 cup of liquid detergent with one gallon of water in a bucket to scrub all loose dirt and debris from the siding and molding. Rinse the surface with a garden hose. Start at the top and work your way down to ground level.
- 2). Add two cups of chlorine bleach to the bucket to remove heavy soil or mildew. Let it sit for five or 10 minutes, then rinse with a garden hose. Allow the siding to dry completely before painting.
- 3). Fill a paint sprayer with exterior acrylic latex paint. Apply an even coat of paint to the vinyl siding. One layer should be all it takes. Vinyl and PVC do not require a primer coat if they're clean.
- 4). Paint the molding with the latex paint using a small paint brush. Allow all painted surfaces three or four days to dry and cure before opening windows or setting things near the freshly painted surface.
