- 1). Draw an oval in the center of your paper, sized according to how large or small you want your final art piece to be. This oval serves as the clown's head. Add the clown's right ear by drawing a C shape attached to the middle of the left side of the oval. Draw the left ear on the right side of the oval.
- 2). Add a small arched line underneath the tops of the clown's ears to signify depth. Draw a smaller oval in the center of the head to make the nose, making the nose as large or small as you wish. Draw two vertical ovals next to one another and attached to the nose to make the eyes, drawing in the pupils according to your desired size.
- 3). Create the smiling mouth by drawing an elongated U shape to either side of the nose, then draw a small inverted U shape slightly below it. Draw lines in between the U shapes to connect them together, then draw a horizontal line in the middle of this shape to indicate teeth.
- 4). Draw a continuous line that surrounds the mouth, following the contours of the shape to make the large and pouty lips of the clown. Add in any small details like a small derby on the clown's head or a large puffy bow tie under the chin. Trace your drawing in black ink to make your art stand out on the page or use colored pencils to add some color to the face.
