- 1). Remove the strings from the Steinberger bass guitar, alternating from the E, G, A and D strings to keep the neck from twisting under uneven pressure.
- 2). Clean all dirt and oil from the base plate, saddles and tuning knobs on the Steinberger bass bridge, using a Q-tip soaked in rubbing alcohol. Using a soft 1-tip will allow you access to all of the smaller bridge parts.
- 3). Wrap one end of the cotton towel around your index finger and wet it with the rubbing alcohol. Use this to wipe the bridge clean of any loose debris.
- 4). Wipe the Steinberger bass bridge with the dry part of the towel in a buffing motion, using short circles. This will remove any final debris and dry alcohol residue.
- 5). Lubricate the Steinberger tuning knobs with a very small amount of the three-in-one lubricant. Turn the tuning knobs as you do this to ensure that they are properly lubricated throughout. Wipe off excess oil with the cotton towel.
- 6). Lubricate the bridge saddles with the graphite pencil. You should do this only where the string meets the saddle. This will help the strings move across the saddles and prevent the saddles from pinching the strings while playing.
- 7). String the Steinberger bass, alternating from the D, A, G and E strings.
