- 1). Lay a towel on your work table to prevent small parts from rolling away. An alternative is to work on a cookie sheet or similar pan.
- 2). Unscrew the rear end of the airbrush and remove it. This end piece covers and protects the needle.
- 3). Unscrew the needle chuck, which will allow you to pull the needle backwards out of the airbrush.
- 4). Unscrew and remove the needle tube assembly. This assembly is made up of three pieces: the needle tube, the tube shank passing through it and a spring that allows the two to compress together.
- 5). Pull the trigger straight up and out of the airbrush. This can be accomplished because the needle is no longer holding it in place.
- 6). Remove the Y-shaped lever from the trigger area. This lever allows the trigger to push the needle back, releasing paint and air. On some models this lever is attached to the needle tube shank.
- 7). Unscrew and remove the tip cap from the front of the airbrush. You may have to use a small wrench for this, which should be provided with the airbrush. Some airbrushes have a two-piece tip cap, while others have a three-piece. These pieces screw into one another.
- 8). Remove the tip. On some models this must be unscrewed, while on others it will simply pop off when the tip cap has been removed.
