- 1). Shut down your Sony Vaio and disconnect the power cable and all devices from your laptop. Close the LCD panel and place the Sony Vaio face down. Remove the battery pack from the bottom casing of the laptop.
- 2). Place the laptop face up and reopen the LCD screen. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the rubber screw covers from the front panel of the LCD screen. Remove the Phillips-head screws from the front panel and separate the panel from the LCD screen.
- 3). Remove the two Phillips-head screws from each side of the metal frame encasing the LCD screen inside the LCD assembly. Grasp the top edge of the screen and tilt the screen downward until the back of the screen is visible.
- 4). Disconnect the LCD video cable from the back side of the LCD screen. Locate the inverter board near the bottom of the back side of the LCD screen. Disconnect the cables from each side of the inverter board.
- 5). Carefully remove the sticky tape securing the inverter board to the back of the LCD screen. Do not touch the sticky surface of the tape or throw it away. You will need it to attach the new inverter board to the LCD screen. Remove the inverter board from the LCD assembly and set it aside.
- 6). Place the new inverter board in the same place you removed the old inverter board from. Use the old sticky tape to attach the inverter board to the back of the LCD screen. Connect the two cable connectors to each side of the new inverter board.
- 7). Reconnect the LCD video cable to the connector on the back of the LCD screen. Place the LCD screen inside the back panel of the LCD assembly. Align the screw holes on the LCD screen with the screw holes on the metal framing on each side of the LCD screen. Reattach the screws to the metal encasing each side of the screen until it is secured into place.
- 8). Replace the front panel of the LCD assembly and the fastening screws. Close the LCD screen, place the laptop face down and place the battery pack inside its compartment in the bottom compartment of the laptop.
- 9). Place the laptop face up and reconnect the power cables and external hardware devices.
