- 1). Open iTunes and connect your iPod to the computer using the USB cable.
- 2). Click your iPod in the left window pane.
- 3). Click the "Restore" button that shows in the "Summary" tab.
- 4). Verify that you want to restore the device by clicking "Restore" again in the pop-up that appears.
- 5). Wait for the iPod to restore. You will see a progress bar on the computer screen. When that bar fills, you will see a progress bar on the iPod. Keep the iPod connected to the computer during both stages. The setup assistant appears on your computer screen when the process is complete.
