- 1). Insert the USB wireless adapter into the machine. If the machine is on, the operating system will automatically detect the new hardware.
- 2). Insert the CD or DVD for the manufacturer's drivers. Follow the prompts to install the drivers onto the computer.
- 3). Double-click the wireless icon that appears in the taskbar. If you are using a Vista machine, click the link that displays "Connect to a Network."
- 4). Select a wireless network to connect the computer with. If a password is required, a prompt displays. Enter the password to the wireless network. Windows connects to the network.
- 5). Open a web browser. If the password entered is correct and you have access to the wireless connection, you can access the Internet. To test the settings, navigate to a website to confirm the installation.
