- 1). Make sure the base surface to which you are planning to mount your countertop is perfectly clean and free of any debris. Use fine-grit sandpaper, if needed, to sand all of the edges so they are level, even and smooth. Wipe away any resulting dust with a damp cloth.
- 2). Use steady pressure to squeeze a slender bead of silicone adhesive along each edge of the base for your countertop.
- 3). Raise the countertop and hold it level one or two inches above the base. Position the countertop so that it is centered, then place it on the adhesive.
- 4). If your countertop is made from a lighter material, secure it to the base at the corners using pressure clamps while the adhesive dries.
- 5). Slightly dampen a soft cloth and wipe away any adhesive that overflows from the countertop seams.
- 6). Let the countertop rest for 24 hours so that the adhesive dries completely. Remove any clamps before using your new countertop.
