- 1). Slide the hold switch, located along the top edge of your iPod, into the "On" position and then quickly move it back to the "Off" position. The hold switch is set to "On" when you can see orange paint just beneath the switch.
- 2). Place your iPod onto a flat surface. Press the button in the center of your iPod's click wheel and the button labeled "Menu" at the same time.
- 3). Continue to hold the buttons for between 6 to 8 seconds, until the Apple logo appears on the iPod screen.
- 4). Repeat Steps 2 and 3 if the iPod does not reset on the first try. If it still does not reset, connect the iPod to a computer or electrical outlet and repeat the process.
