How to Run NetMeeting on Windows XP

    • 1). Open the Start Menu and select the "Run..." command. This will cause the "Run..." dialog box to open, giving you the option of either entering the location of a file that you wish to run, or browsing through the XP folder structure to find your file.

    • 2). Type "conf" into the dialog box, and press the "OK" button. This will launch the Microsoft NetMeeting configuration wizard, letting you set up NetMeeting for use, and giving you the option to create shortcuts for the program as well.

    • 3). Click "Next" when the configuration wizard starts. You will be prompted to enter some of your personal information; do so, then click the "Next" button again to advance to the next step of NetMeeting setup.

    • 4). Select the listing directory options that you wish NetMeeting to use, and then click "Next" again.

    • 5). Choose the connection media options that you want to use with NetMeeting, and click the "Next" button once again.

    • 6). Select the shortcut options that you want to enable the quick launching of NetMeeting on your computer without the need for the "Run..." command. Click "Next" again to continue advancing the configuration wizard.

    • 7). Configure the volume options for NetMeeting, and then click the "Next" button again.

    • 8). Plug in your microphone, and use the NetMeeting microphone configuration options to test and make sure that the microphone works correctly. Click the "Next" button to advance to the final screen of the NetMeeting configuration wizard.

    • 9). Click "Finish" in order to finalize the configuration of NetMeeting on your computer, and close the configuration wizard. You can now run NetMeeting, using the shortcuts that the wizard created, allowing you to connect directly to other NetMeeting users via their IP address.
