In order for a relationship to be a healthy one it needs to have the six basic foundations in order for it to thrive:
Healthy relationships make us feel better about ourselves, it makes us feel happy and safe whereas an unhealthy relationship gives us the exact opposite as one feels unhappy, insecure and sometimes even unsafe.
Unhealthy qualities in a most relationship can be worked on and made better but you have to know when to walk away.
If it gets to the point where you fear for your safety in a relationship then that is definitely a sign for you to end the relationship.
Being in a healthy relationship does take work but it shouldn't be a chore, it takes hard work on both parts, it should not be one-sided.
You should be in a relationship without losing yourself, your self-worth or identity.
You are part of a couple not the other half of a couple.
You were whole before you met your partner and therefore you should still remain whole throughout your relationship.
No other person should and can 'complete' you.
A relationship without compromise is also not healthy, it is not about giving up or giving in, it's about mutual respect, honesty and growing together.
Relationships may start off like a fairytale, full of passion and love.
It's so wonderful in the beginning but as a couple begins to grow together their lives change with parenting, careers, hobbies, social lives and other commitments, the love and romance may not be as much of a priority at times.
As time goes by you may feel that something has changed and you are getting tired of the same monotonous routine.
This doesn't mean that the love has gone, it just means that it needs to be given a 'jump start'.
A relationship without communication is not a relationship at all.
Being able to communicate in a deep and meaningful way is the greatest gift that you can give to each other as it helps to cement your relationship and keep it alive.
There is nothing more significant and powerful in our search for connection than good communication.
Don't let your relationships go without!
