- 1). Pick all the objects you want to put in your memory jar. These can include movie tickets, sea shells, nuts and anything else that reminds you of the memory you are commemorating. Make sure they are small enough to fit into a jar.
- 2). Place the objects in the jar. Arrange them any way you see fit. Try to make sure every object is visible from the outside of the jar. Seal the jar with the lid.
- 3). Find pictures that relate to the memory. Cut out small portions of the pictures and attach them to the outside of the jar using tape. Place them in an orderly fashion to avoid creating a messy looking memory jar.
- 4). Write the name of the memory on the card. Include the date, the importance and any people involved. Make sure these details are written small and neat enough to fit on the card and be easily read. Draw small pictures on the card that relate to the memory.
- 5). Cut out the text from the index card and tape it to the jar. Plan this out in advance so that is centered on the jar like a label with few pictures surrounding it.
- 6). Tie a ribbon around the top of the jar. Knot the ends to make a bow. Your basic decoration is complete. Alter any of these steps in any way you see fit. For example, you can skip the picture step if you don't want pictures on the jar.
