- 1). Power down the computer, wait 10 seconds. Press and release the power button, and immediately tap the "F8" button repeatedly to activate the "Windows Advanced Options Menu."
- 2). Press the arrow key on the keyboard and highlight "Safe mode with a Command prompt." Press "Enter."
- 3). Press the arrow key to highlight the operating system that needs to be restored. Press "Enter." After a few seconds, the Windows logon screen appears.
- 4). Click the administrator account and log into the computer. Click "Yes" in the "Desktop" dialogue box.
- 5). Type "%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe" and press "Enter" to launch the "System Restore" window.
- 6). Click the "Next" button located at the bottom right corner of the "System Restore" window.
- 7). Click a day on the calendar when the computer was running properly. Dates that contain system restore information are bold. Click one of the restore points listed under "On this list, click a restore point." Click "Next."
- 8). Review the system restore information listed on the "Confirm Restore Point Selection" page. Click "Next." The computer returns to the restore point chosen and reboots.

- 2). Click the "Start" button. Click "Properties," then "Accessories." From the pop-out menu, click "System Restore."
- 3). Click "Restore my computer to an earlier time." Click "Next."
- 4). Click a day on the calendar when the computer was running properly. Dates that contain system restore information are bold. Click one of the restore points listed under "On this list, click a restore point." Click "Next."
- 5). Review the system restore information listed on the "Confirm Restore Point Selection" page. Click "Next." The computer returns to the restore point chosen, and reboots. (see reference 2)
