- 1). Insert the Windows XP installation CD into the optical drive and restart the computer. Press any key once the "Press any key to boot from CD" message appears on the screen.
- 2). Press "Enter" when the "Welcome To Setup" screen appears to start the setup process. Read through the licensing terms and press "F8" to agree to them.
- 3). Press "Enter" to select the recommended hard drive partition for the operating system. Once you select the partition, the computer will erase the hard disk and copy the setup files to your computer. The computer will restart and open the Windows Setup Wizard.
- 4). Set the language settings for the computer and enter personal information if you wish. Click "Next." Type the 25-character product key and click "Next." Set the administrator account and password for the computer. Make note of the administrator information and record it in a safe place.
- 5). Choose the "Date and Time" settings for your region and select the network settings. Enter the "Workgroup" settings for the computer if there are any and click "Next." Windows will then configure the computer and restart it. Follow the steps in the Welcome to Windows Wizard that appears to complete the installation.
