- 1). Wear a pair or rubber gloves, N-95 respirator and safety goggles without vent holes during the mold- and mildew-removal process. Also, provide adequate air ventilation and circulation by opening doors and windows.
- 2). Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of water. Add 1/2 cup of bleach and mix with a wooden spoon. Saturate a sponge in the mixture, and wring out the excess liquid. The sponge should be damp but not soggy.
- 3). Scrub mold and mildew from walls with the sponge. When the sponge becomes dry or dingy, submerge in into the bucket. Continue scrubbing until you have removed all mold and mildew.
- 4). Dampen a clean cloth in cool water. Wipe the walls clean with the cloth. Allow the walls to air dry.
- 5). Discard the contents of the bucket, and rinse it clean with cool running water. Fill the bucket up once again with 1 gallon of warm water.
- 6). Add 1 cup of bleach and 1/2 cup of liquid dish soap to the water. Mix the contents with a wooden spoon. Fill a spray bottle with the mixture.
- 7). Spray bathtubs, showers, wood, tiles and counter tops with the mixture. Allow the solution to sit for 15 minutes. After the allotted time has passed, wipe the mixture off the surface with a damp cloth.
- 8). Spray the surface once again with the mixture and scrub with a clean sponge. Continue scrubbing until you have thoroughly cleaned the surface.
- 9). Wipe the surface clean with a damp cloth. Dry with a towel.
