What is an ectomorph? An ectomorph is simply a person that has a very hard time with gaining weight.
They are usually known as "skinny" and will have very petite features.
They will have long and thin faces and their biggest problem will usually be regarding muscle building.
Ectomorphs are hard gainers and so they will have a very hard time with gaining muscle.
How can a ectomorph gain muscle? This might often seem like an impossible task for some but it really is not that difficult.
You must however know what you need to do to be able to do so that you do not waste time in the gym.
Since ectomorphs are hard gainers, it is very hard for them to see results fast and so they will often quit.
The trick is to stick to a solid program that will guide you through the process of learning how to lift weights.
What exercises should an ectomorph do? There are plenty of exercises out there but only some will really work for an ectomorph.
You must focus on being able to lift heavy weights and to fully avoid doing isolated exercises.
Bicep curls, sit ups and leg extensions should not be a part of your routine as you will need to focus on doing exercises that will use the most muscle groups.
Try your best to create a workout program that will focus on squats, dead lifts, bench presses and bent over rows.
These are the exercises that will allow you to lift the most weights because they are focused on using multiple muscle groups.
What should an ectomorph eat? Since an ectomorph has a hard time with gaining weight, it is a good idea to eat as much as you possibly can.
This however will confuse people into believing that they can eat whatever they want.
You should however avoid eating junk food, candies and drinking sodas because this will lead to fat gain and not much muscle.
The best way to gain muscle is to eat at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight but an ectomorph should eat much more than that.
Focus on getting your protein from sources like eggs, chickens, tuna, salmon and protein shakes.
How much should I rest? An ectomorph will need more rest compared to everyone else because you body will be shocked from all the stress that your body has gone through.
Lifting heavy weights will tear your muscle fibers and so sleep will help repair your body to become stronger and healthier.
There is nothing like being able to sleep about 10 hours at night and to get several 15 minute naps.
Get as much as rest as you possibly can so that you will be able to really gain more muscle.
Take your time with the muscle gaining process as there really is no rush.
As you continue to add weight and get stronger, you will then start to see results with your body and your strength.
If you are serious about gaining muscle, you should keep these things in mind.
