How to Program a Magnavox VCR

    • 1). Press the "MENU" button on the front of the VCR.

    • 2). Use the "STOP" and "PLAY" buttons to assign a program number for the timed recording. Press the "F.FWD" button to confirm.

    • 3). Select "ONCE" for a one-time recording, "DAILY" for a recording that repeats Monday through Friday or "WEEKLY" for a recording that will repeat on the same day and time each week using the "STOP" and "PLAY" buttons when prompted to do so. Press "F.FWD" to confirm.

    • 4). Set the date by selecting the desired month and day with the "STOP" and "PLAY" buttons. You can set a recording up to a year in advance. Press "F.FWD" to save the date.

    • 5). Assign a start time to your recording by setting the hour and minute with the "STOP" and "PLAY" buttons. Press "F.FWD" and then select "AM" or "PM." Press "F.FWD" again to save the time setting. Repeat this process to set the end time for the recording.

    • 6). Use the "STOP" and "PLAY" buttons to set the channel to be recorded. If connected to a cable or satellite box, set to channel 3 or 4, and select the appropriate channel on your set-top box. Leave the set-top box on during the scheduled recording. Press "F.FWD" to confirm.

    • 7). Choose a recording speed using the "STOP" and "PLAY" buttons. Select between "SP," which will record at a higher quality in exchange for less recording time, and "LP," which will record at a lower quality in exchange for extended recording time. Press "F.FWD" to confirm.

    • 8). Turn off the VCR. The "TIMER" indicator will light up. Make sure a blank, recordable tape is inserted into the VCR prior to the scheduled recording.
