- While later models of Visor PDAs contained extra features, most included the same basic elements. All models came with a docking cradle into which the Visor was inserted, in order to transfer files between the Visor and a desktop computer. A Springboard slot allowed users to transfer programs from a data card to the PDA. The Handspring Visor line used a stylus in order to input commands into the device, and a leather slip case was included with all units.
- Visor handhelds were mainly meant for business. Models contained address books, calendars, to do lists and the ability to write memos. The Visor also acted as an advanced graphics calculator, with an extensive math library. Games and business programs could be loaded into the unit. A world clock helped users keep track of the time.
- All models, except for the Visor Pro and the original Visor, featured 8 megabytes of memory, enough to hold 400 emails. The Visor Pro doubled the memory size of the unit to 16MB, allowing for twice as much storage capacity, while the first Visor had considerably less memory at only 2MB. Each successive PDA in the Visor line featured additional programs and a faster processor speed.
- The original Visor, Visor Deluxe, Visor Prism and Visor Neo used AAA batteries to power the unit, while the Platinum, Edge and Pro utilized an internal lithium ion battery which could be recharged. Starting with the original Visor, the Handspring Visor line of products allowed for universal synchronous bus connection with a desktop or notebook computer. Visor display screens only came in four bit grayscale which provided 16 different shades of gray, although later models provided greater screen clarity.
- The Handspring Visor featured a rectangular shape, which contained four buttons on the bottom and two scroll keys to move a cursor up and down the screen. The background of the Visor’s screen was green. Models came in a variety of shells, with the most common colors being metallic silver or flat black. Visors weighed in the neighborhood of 5 to 6 ounces with a size of five inches in length by three inches in width by one inch in height.
