How to Modify Windows Startup

    • 1). Click "Start" and click on the box that reads "Search" in the menu if Windows Vista or Windows 7 is installed on your computer. Click "Start" and then click on the button that reads "Run" in the menu if Windows XP is installed on your computer.

    • 2). Type "msconfig" without the quotation marks. In Windows Vista and Windows 7, click on the program's icon to open MSconfig. In Windows XP, click "OK" to open MSconfig.

    • 3). Click "Startup" to run the Microsoft Windows startup manager.

    • 4). Check a program named in that window if you want it to load on Microsoft Windows startup. If you see a program named and you don't want it to load on Microsoft Windows startup, remove the check from its listing. When you're finished modifying Windows startup, click "Apply." Your changes will be finalized the next time you restart your PC.
