Body (Make 2)

• 1). Chain 2 stitches with the light brown worsted weight yarn. Single crochet 8 stitches in the second chain from the hook. Slip stitch the last stitch to the first. Chain 1 stitch.
  
  
• 2). Complete two loop stitches in each single crochet for a total of 16 stitches. Slip stitch the row together. Chain 1 stitch.
  
  Make a loop stitch by inserting the tip of the crochet hook through the next stitch. Loop the working yarn from the front to the back of your non-dominant index finger. Hook the working yarn at the back of your index finger. Pull the loop through the stitch leaving the tension of the working yarn wrapped around your index finger. Complete the stitch like a single crochet stitch. Remove your finger.
  
  
• 3). Complete 2 long loop stitches in the same stitch as the chain 1 stitch. Complete 1 long loop stitch in the next stitch. Repeat the pattern around the earmuff for a total of 24 stitches.

• 1). Chain 2 stitches. Turn and complete 6 single crochet stitches in the second chain from the hook. Slip stitch the row together. Chain 1 stitch.
  
  Complete 2 single crochet stitches in each stitch around for a total of 12 stitches. Slip stitch the row together. Chain 1 stitch.
  
  
• 2). Complete 2 single crochet stitches in the same stitch as the chain 1. Complete 1 single crochet stitch in the next stitch. Repeat the pattern around for a total of 18 stitches. Slip stitch the row together. Chain 1 stitch.
  
  
• 3). Complete 2 single crochet stitches in the same stitch as the chain 1 stitch. Complete 1 single crochet stitch in the next two stitches. Repeat the pattern around for a total of 24 stitches. Slip stitch the row together. Chain 1 stitch.
  
  Complete 1 single crochet stitch in the same stitch as the chain 1 stitch and in each stitch around for a total of 24 stitches. Slip stitch the row together. Chain 1 stitch.
  
  
• 4). Complete 1 single crochet decrease stitch in the first two stitches. Single crochet in the next two stitches. Repeat the pattern around for a total of 18 stitches. Slip stitch the row together. Chain 1 stitch.
  
  Single crochet in each stitch around for the next three rows. Slip stitch each row together. Chain 1 stitch before proceeding to the next row.
  
  
• 5). Stuff the small crocheted teddy bear head. Complete 1 single crochet decrease stitch around. Slip stitch the last stitch to the first stitch. Cut the yarn approximately 12 inches from the crochet hook. Pull the end of the yarn through the last stitch to finish.
  
  Ear directions: Attach the yarn in 4. Single crochet in the next 3 stitches. Turn. Complete a decrease stitch with the three single crochet stitches from the previous row. Finish off. Move two stitches to the left. Repeat the pattern.
  
  

Assembly

• 1). Cut two, 4 1/2-inch circles from the brown felt.
  
  
• 2). Sew the teddy bear head to the center of the body using the 12-inch end of yarn left on the head. Glue the 1/2-inch brown pompom in the center of the head for the nose. Glue on each of the wiggly eyes. Allow the glue to dry 30 minutes.
  
  
• 3). Position the 4 1/2-inch brown felt circles on the back of the teddy bear body. Hand sew the felt circles in place leaving a 1-inch gap straight above the top of the teddy bear head for stuffing. Stuff each body once the felt circles are sewn into place.
  
  
• 4). Insert the ends of the head band into the 1-inch openings. Slide the headband into the openings until 12 inches of the headband is left exposed. This will fit a child. Allow an extra 1 to 2 inches for an adult. Pin the earmuffs to the fabric-covered headband.
  
  
• 5). Sew the headband to the earmuff along the area where the felt and the crocheting join the headband.
