- 1). Smooth rough or splintering areas of the damaged frame, using 180-grit sandpaper. Sand in the direction of the wood grain, or you will cause more splintering.
- 2). Remove unseen dust from the damaged storm windows and frames by wiping them down with sticky tack cloths.
- 3). Lay fabric dropcloths to protect the floor beneath the window frames. Cover the wall adjacent to the frames with painter's tape.
- 4). Mix the wood epoxy patching catalyst with the resin in a plastic drywall tray. Stir the compound for five full minutes, using a plastic stir stick.
- 5). Apply the wood epoxy patching compound to the damaged portion of the storm window frame, using a plastic putty knife. Smooth the compound with the putty knife so it conforms to the shape of the frame.
- 6). Remove excess compound from the frame with a wet rag. Wait two hours before touching the repaired frame.
