- 1). Choose a theme for the gift basket and collect, have donated or cheaply buy various items that will go with the chosen theme and will look good in the basket. Part of the basket's job is to entice people to buy tickets for a chance to win it.
- 2). Cut two large pieces of cellophane and make them into a plus sign flat on the table. Place the empty basket or container of your choice in the middle of the cellophane. Add shredded paper, either store-bought or made yourself by using a paper shredder and the paper color of your choice, to the bottom of the basket.
- 3). Place the various collected items strategically in the basket. Move them around so they look just right and can be easily seen by the people hoping to win the basket. It might help to place larger items in the basket first and fill in the extra spaces with smaller items.
- 4). Gather the cellophane together so it is covering the basket and the ends are gathered at the top. Make sure any gaps in the cellophane are closed by moving the cellophane around.
- 5). Cut multiple pieces of gift ribbon all the same length and tie all of the pieces to the top of the cellophane to secure it shut on the basket. Open the scissors and carefully curl the ends of the ribbons with one of the open blades.
- 6). Type a list of items in the gift basket and affix it to the basket by punching a hole in the top corner and tying it onto one of the ribbons. Examine the finished product to make sure it all looks the way you want and that nothing needs adjusting.
