- 1). Reverse your hat inside out. This will help prevent any fabric snags or pulls. Read the care label for special cleaning instructions.
- 2). Machine wash your polyester spandex hat in warm water with all-purpose detergent. If you have a stubborn stain, pour a small amount of the detergent directly onto the stain and rub into the fabric before washing. Make sure you work the detergent into the fabric's grain line.
- 3). Add fabric softener if your hat is prone to static electricity. The softener will reduce it. Rinse your hat thoroughly before drying.
- 4). Line dry or place your hat onto a hat rack for drying. If your instructions call for tumble dry, make sure your machine's setting is low. It is very important to not over dry or dry on a high setting. If your hat's fabric content has a significant amount of polyester, the heat will cause the fabric to gradually shrink and lose its hat shape.
