iPod Safety: How to Take Care of Your iPod

Because you use your iPod everyday, it becomes prone to damage, dirt, and even loss. Although your iPod has become a big part of your daily routine, it is still necessary to take care of your iPod so as to prolong its usage and life.

You wouldn't want to buy a new iPod every time your old one gets damaged, would you? So for your iPod safety and protection, here is an iPod guide [http://itechguide.wordpress.com/2009/03/17/apple-ipod-your-guide-to-ipods/] on how take care of your iPod:

  1. Buy a protective for your iPod. For best protection, choose a rubber casing that fits snugly to your digital music device. This would not only prevent dirt from accumulating on your iPod, but would serve as a shock protector as well, in case you accidentally drop it.

  2. If you are not comfortable keeping your iPod inside your bag or pocket, buy an iPod case that has a clip on it, so you can simply attach it on your shirt or pants. Make sure, however, that you clip it onto yourself fittingly and securely to avoid any damage.

  3. To avoid scratches on the screen, make sure to cover it with a screen protector.

  4. Do not place or store your iPod in an area that is too cold or too hot. Keep it in a safe place that is under normal room temperature.

  5. Avoid getting your iPod wet. It is best not to bring it inside bathrooms or keep it with you when you go swimming.

  6. Keep your iPod away from children as they might take it as a toy and play with it.

  7. When you iPod catches dirt, simply wipe it off with a small, clean piece of cloth that is partially moist. Do not use any strong chemical such as alcohol, acetone, or the likes as they may destroy the coating and color of your iPod.

  8. When storing your iPod, make sure that nothing heavy or sharp hits it. When you keep it inside your bag, for example, place it in a separate pocket instead of mixing it along with all your other stuffs.

  9. When storing the earphones of your iPod, do not roll its cord too tightly as this may damage the quality of the sound it produces.

  10. Avoid overcharging the battery of your iPod to prolong its battery life.

While the cost of iPods nowadays is getting more and more affordable, it doesn't mean that you can simply neglect handling your iPod, thinking that you can easily replace it with a new model. It is still best to take care of your iPod and make it last as long as you can so you can save not only money and time, but effort, as well, in going through the hassles of going to Apple retail stores and buying a new iPod model.
