- 1). Use rubbing alcohol to remove ballpoint ink stains from clothing you cannot launder right away, according to the Ohio State University website. Apply it with a cotton swab to the fabric or other item. You should be able to wipe ballpoint ink stains off of plastic or vinyl items completely, but fabrics require further cleaning.
- 2). Treat the fabric stain with a product containing a dry-cleaning solvent such as perchloroethylene. Apply heavy-duty laundry detergent to the area and rub it in.
- 3). Wash the fabric according to the label care directions, adding all-fabric bleach. Use chlorine bleach if the label states it is safe.
- 4). Repeat the steps if the stain does not completely disappear. Avoid drying the clothing item until the stain is gone.
