- 1). Make a solution using lemon juice, white vinegar and salt. Apply the solution to dry, rust-stained dishes, and then scrub with a sponge until all traces of rust are removed.
- 2). Apply peroxide directly to the rust-stained area of the dish. Let sit for 15 minutes. If rust is still present, make a paste of peroxide and cream of tartar and apply it to the rusted areas. Scrub with a sponge until rust is gone.
- 3). Add to a bucket 1 gallon of cold water and 1/3 cup of a commercial rust remover. Soak the rusted dishes for 15 minutes, and then wipe with a sponge to remove any remaining traces of rust. Be sure to use gloves, as they will help protect the skin from chemicals.
