- 1). Determine which part of the Island you want to fish. There are three fishing piers on the island, Seaview in North Topsail Beach, Surf City Ocean Pier in Surf City and the Jolly Roger in Topsail Beach. The same species of fish can be caught from each pier, including kingfish.
- 2). Purchase a pass. Depending on how often you plan to visit, each pier offers season passes as well as day passes. The purchase of a pass includes a blanket license for all fishing on the pier, so a separate North Carolina fishing license is not required.

- 2). Confirm that the beach you are visiting allows surf fishing. Unless otherwise posted, the majority of beaches on Topsail Island allow surf fishing.
