Gravity will suck you down, and that's okay.
Life can build you up! As we get older, age becomes less relevant.
I never really thought about it until I reached 50, that all important mile marker that reminds us that we probaby have less time left than we've experienced already.
So, how does the relevance of age suddenly make a difference.
If we started out as athletic members of the species, we're probably still running and jumping, through most of the hoops that count as life, if not, the reality of gravity may be taking a toll.
However, we don't have to give up.
We can take the truth of gravity and diminish the damage with a good healthy gulp of faith.
Look around and take stock of who you are.
Then determine who you want to be.
If the two aren't on the same path, you'll need to change the path you're traveling to get where you want to go.
Good health may be a stretch at the moment, but you can still head in that general direction and get there.
Let's start by increasing metabolism.
Water - drink a lot of it.
It's required to keep your body flushing out toxins and keep your metabolism increasing.
5 - 7 20 ounce glasses a day - at least.
Move - minimum of 10 times up and down a staircase each day.
Walk a mile.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Do whatever it takes to MOVE for 30 minutes a day.
Work - 2 hours of solid work in the yard, around the house, whatever you can do for 2 hours once a week, will make a difference in your overall ability to live well.
Destress - this is important.
Learn what it takes to destress your body and build resistance to the kind of toxins that build up when you're feeling stressed.
I found having a cup of tea and just breathing for a bit helps, then take a quick walk - just a short burst of nature brings back my healthy attitude.
Use that.
It works.
Relationships - grow those solid friendships.
Family is always a good option, but you need friends too.
Build connected networks of friends and family who support and encourage your goals.
The most important thing you can do for yourself to improve your metabolism is to have a good attitude.
Bring your best self to the game and grow a fundamental basis for who you are that says, "I'm healthy, vibrant and alive.
