Shakespeare once wrote, "The eyes are the windows to the soul".
But seemingly, the eyes are also the windows to one's age.
Being the most delicate area of the face, the skin around the eyes is the first area to show signs of aging.
It's a dead giveaway of your age.
It can make you look younger or older than you actually are that is why it's very important to take extra care of it.
Fortunately, there are ways that you can do to help delay aging on your eye area.
Let me share to you some of them.
1.
Pat, don't rub.
When applying makeup and eye skin care products such as creams and serums, gently pat the product onto the eye area.
Don't rub.
I repeat, don't rub.
The skin around the eyes is the most sensitive so if you constantly rub it, it causes the skin to wrinkle and eventually leave permanent lines under your eyes.
Pulling and tugging is also a big no no.
2.
Don't squint.
Repetitive squinting can lead to fine lines, crows feet and wrinkles around the eyes.
To prevent squinting, you should wear sunglasses when going out on a sunny day.
Poor vision can also make you squint a lot, so if you need to get prescription glasses or contact lenses then you might have to do so.
3.
Invest in a good eye cream.
The skin around the eyes is more sensitive than the rest of your face, so it is very important to use a product that is specially formulated for the eye area.
It's not a good practice to use a regular facial moisturizer on your eye area as the pores around your eyes are much smaller than that of the rest of the face.
Using regular facial moisturizer on your eye area can sometimes result in white bumps and milia.
4.
Sleep well.
Dark circles under or around the eye are usually caused by fatigue and not getting enough sleep.
To minimise and prevent dark circles, it's really important to get ample rest and sleep regularly.
Getting enough sleep can also make your face look fresh and youthful so make sure to get enough zzzs every day.
5.
Elevate your head slightly when you sleep.
if you sleep flat on your bed with a flat pillow under your head, or if you don't sleep with a pillow under your head, the junk in your skin can coagulate under your eyes.
Elevating your head slightly can prevent toxins from accumulating.
