- 1). Combine 1 part baking soda with 1 part borax in a container.
- 2). Add 1 part of water to the baking soda and borax. Stir until the powders combine with the water.
- 3). Add two to three drops of lemon essential oil to the detergent. Stir until the essential oil blends with the ingredients.
- 4). Add 2 to 3 tbsp. of the liquid detergent for each load of dishes. Add vinegar to the rinse cycle to help prevent cloudy dishes.
- 5). Store the dishwasher detergent in an airtight container away from direct sunlight.
