- 1). Inspect your microwave to make sure it is compatible with a microwave wall mount. A compatible unit will have predrilled bolt holes on the top and the ventilation mechanism in the top front of the microwave.
- 2). Purchase a mounting plate that is approximately the same size of your microwave hood. You can buy one at most hardware and home appliance stores.
- 3). Use a stud finder to locate the studs in your wall where you want to install the cabinet. You can also find the studs by banging on the wall -- if you hear a hollow sound, there is no beam. If you hear a solid bang, you have located a beam.
- 4). Mark the studs with a pencil.
- 5). Use a tape measure to find the location of the mounting plate's center. Mark this location on the wall.
- 6). Mark the location of the nails or screws that will secure the mounting plate to the wall. Make sure that these markings are on your studs.
- 7). Drill holes for the screws, unless you are using nails.
- 8). Attach the wall mount to the wall, as marked, with screws or nails.
- 9). Hang the microwave hood onto the wall mount's hooks.

Use a level to align the microwave to the cabinets according to your preferences. - 11
Drill two holes in the cabinet above the microwave to line up with the predrilled holes in the top of the microwave. If there is an electrical outlet inside your cabinet, you can drill a third hole to accommodate the microwave's cord. - 12
Bolt the microwave in place with the bolts that come with the microwave wall mount. Thread the microwave cord through the third hole. - 13
Test the microwave to make sure it's working properly.
