I'm sure you've heard the expression of how important it is to get your beauty sleep countless of times, and this is good advice for those trying to look as young as possible.
When you fail to get enough of rest the results shows up around your eyes and your posture suffers as well.
Research has demonstrated that you need from 6 to 7 hours of sleep to fell well rested and alert during the day.
This figure is not written in stone, but for the general population it has been shown to be true.
Exercise is another important factor if you want to look younger; you need to use a workout program that includes cardiovascular as well as strengthen or resistance training.
It will help to keep your body toned, it will firms up your muscles, increase circulation and oxygen flow, keeps your organs producing hormones that it needs (this is especially important as you get older since various hormones tend to decrease with age), exercise will also help in the elimination of toxins from the body, reduces stress (big factor in looking older) and of course burn excess calories.
Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water! It's important to keep the body hydrated, and not with soda, coffee, drink mixes but with water.
Those other beverages are loaded with sugars and preservatives which are bad for the body, internally as well as externally.
You need to eat foods that are high in nutritional value, like fruits and vegetables.
These provide vitamins and minerals the body needs to function and replenish itself.
Don't forget your tubers like potatoes and yams; consume beans and nuts.
Eat lean meat, fish and poultry.
Protect yourself from excessive sun exposure.
Though it's recommended to use sun screen, remember you're applying chemicals to the skin which over time will cause damage to it.
If you love the great outdoors dress appropriately to avoid sun damage to your skin.
You also need to avoid tanning salons as the ultraviolet light that's emitted from the fluorescent light bulbs damages your skin cells.
Reduce the amount of chemicals you're exposed to on a daily basis, this is especially true in your home.
When possible use organic substitutes, if not minimize the amount of different products you use to reduce your exposure to a large variety of harmful chemicals.
Also be careful when mixing or combining different products together, the result of mixing chemicals can be dangerous to your health.
Ladies and young girls keep the makeup you use to a bare minimum.
Makeup products have many substances that are bad for your skin and your health; though not out right toxic over time these compounds have a detrimental effect on your body.
If possible try to use natural makeup products to reduce the levels of toxicity your skin is exposed to, they will cost you more to look good but your body will thank you for it.
A lot of people like smoke tobacco, drink alcohol and use recreational drugs; these things age the body.
You may think it's cool and want to be with the in ground, but all you're doing is shortening your life span.
Cut down on excessive use of over the counter medication or of abusing prescription medications all these things have a negative effect on your body making you look older than you actually are; SO STOP.
If you're addicted to any illegal substances find a drug treatment program to kick the habit.
You'll not only begin to look and feel younger, it'll add years to your life as well.
