- 1). Rig one octopus hook at the end of a monofilament leader that is about 3-feet long. Tie a snell knot to attack another octopus hook to the leader line so it slides. Both hooks should face in the same direction.
- 2). Bait the hook with dead bait like herring or octopus, points facing toward the back end.
- 3). Tie several half hitches of the leader around the tail of your dead bait and attach it to the fishing line with a swivel.
- 1). Use a three-way swivel to rig for trolling.
- 2). Attach your leader line--with baited octopus hooks as in Section 1--to one eye of the swivel and a sinker dropper next to it.
- 3). Tie your fishing line to the last eye of the swivel.
