- 1). Vacuum the subfloor to remove all dirt, dust and debris. Check the floor with a level to ensure that it's smooth and even. Use a leveling compound to fill any low areas or voids, and grind or plane down high spots or bumps. Clean the floor once more after it is completely smooth and even.
- 2). Measure the length of the room and transfer this measurement to your roll of Teknoflor vinyl. Score the back of the vinyl with a utility knife to cut it at this location, using a straight edge to keep your cuts smooth and straight.
- 3). Move your length of vinyl flooring to the spot where it will be installed. Trim the edges as needed to fit the room, leaving about 1/8-inch gap at either end of the room to allow for expansion.
- 4). Repeat this process to cut the remaining rows of vinyl. Take the time to line up patterns along the seams to ensure a cohesive design between the rows. Once all the vinyl has been cut to fit, re-roll each section and place it at one end of the room.
- 5). Apply Tek 1000 flooring adhesive to the entire floor surface using a notched trowel. Allow the adhesive to set for about ten minutes. Press your finger to the adhesive to determine if it is ready for installation. If the floor still feels sticky, but no adhesive remains on your finger, it is ready for vinyl installation.
- 6). Unroll the first row of vinyl and press it firmly to the adhesive by hand. Starting in the center of the row, roll the vinyl with a 150-pound floor roller to remove all air bubbles. Repeat the rolling process as many times as necessary to remove all bubbles, working air out towards the edges of the rows.
- 7). Repeat Step 6 to install the remaining rows, rolling each row immediately after installation.
- 8). Wipe the surface of your Teknoflor clean using a damp rag or sponge. Remove all excess adhesive from the surface of the vinyl as quickly as possible before it has a chance to dry or stain the floor.
