- 1). Check to see whether the Mintek television has been plugged into an outlet. Try another wall outlet or flip on the light switch if the first outlet doesn't work. Press the front or side "Power" button.
- 2). Test the remote control. If the remote behaves erratically, it might need new batteries. If you have custom codes on the remote, replace the batteries quickly so as not to lose any data. Remove any obstruction that might block the sensor from the remote to the television.
- 3). Check the audio/video cables. If you have a VCR or game console plugged into the TV, plug the devices into different inputs or replace the cables. Audio/video cables can be susceptible to radio interference from other electronic devices. Always buy the highest quality cables.
- 4). Inspect the DVD player. Try several DVDs to rule out a faulty player. If you hear a clicking or bumping noise while a DVD is spinning, the player might be damaged. While playing a DVD, if you see image distortion or the audio/video stops and starts, remove the DVD and clean it with a soft, dry cloth. Always wipe from the center to the edge of the DVD.
- 5). Reset the Mintek television. Unplug it from the wall outlet, and hold the "Power" button for five seconds. Plug it in, turn on the power and confirm that it works. This feature might not be available on all televisions.
