- 1). Blot up any excess liquid using a paper towel.
- 2). Pour a little water on the stain.
- 3). Sponge off the water, removing as much as possible.
- 4). Combine a teaspoon of liquid hand dishwashing soap in a cup of warm water.
- 5). Scrub the soap solution into the carpet, using your fingers and working into the fibers.
- 6). Rinse the soap from the area, using a sponge soaked in water.
- 7). Mix ½ cup of warm water with ½ cup of white vinegar.
- 8). Sponge the area with the vinegar/water solution and let it set for about five minutes.
- 9). Pat the area with a dry paper towel, making the area as dry as possible.

Lay sheets of paper towel on the area, about ½ inch deep. Weight down the towels, allowing the paper towels to soak up the moisture. If the towels become drenched, replace with dried towels. - 11
Brush the area with your hand, to revive the pile, after about eight hours. The carpet should be practically dry.
