- 1). Remove the masking tape from the surface as soon as possible, such as just after painting. The longer you leave it on, the harder it will be to get off.
- 2). Peel up the very edge of the masking tape, just enough to hold it within your fingers.
- 3). Hold a hair dryer about 4 inches away from the masking tape and turn it on. The heat helps the adhesive come off the surface.
- 4). Start pulling the masking tape off gently. Pull using a 90-degree angle if you're painting to make sure the line left behind is straight.
- 5). Keep the hair dryer moving down along the masking tape as you pull. If you hit a snag, keep the heat on the tape for several seconds and then continue pulling until it's all the way off the surface.
