- 1). Eject all of the ammunition from the gun and make sure the chamber is empty. Check to ensure that the safety is on.
- 2). Take the gun outdoors and place it on top of a thick canvas drop cloth in a shaded area.
- 3). Put on a pair of protective rubber gloves.
- 4). Dampen a clean rag with stripping solvent. Saturate the gun sight with solvent.
- 5). Immediately cover the gun sight with a plastic drop cloth; this will slow the evaporation process and provide the solvent more time to loosen the white paint.
- 6). Wait 10 minutes before removing the drop cloth. Sand off the loosened paint, using a coarse sandpaper.
- 7). Wash off any remaining residue, using steel wool and a fresh rag dampened with solvent. Let the gun sight dry for 15 minutes.
