- 1). Lower a rope down a chimney in which a pearl squirrel has become trapped. Secure the rope to the top of the chimney and ensure that it is long enough to hang down to the damper. You can encourage the rodent to leave by making a noise near the fireplace.
- 2). Secure a one-way door to the outside of the pearl squirrel's nest entrance in attics or other areas of the house where squirrels have nested. Ensure that there are no small babies as the mother may do more damage in an effort to be reunited with her little ones. Once all the pearl squirrels have left, close all entrance holes.
- 3). Use a live trap to catch the pearl squirrels. Leave the baited trap in a high traffic area for several days. Once the squirrels have become accustomed to eating from the trap, bait the trap with peanut butter and set it. Check the trap every two hours and release squirrels in wooded areas.
