Bose Acoustimass 700 Speaker Specs

    Dimensions

    • Powering the Bose Acoustimass 700 speakers is the Acoustimass module, which is 14 inches high, 19 inches wide and 17.5 inches deep. Each of the 700's two surround speakers is 5.75 inches high, 11 inches wide and 6.5 inches deep, while each of the system's three cube speaker arrays is 6.375 inches high, 3.125 inches wide and 4.75 inches deep.

    Weight

    • The total weight of the Bose Acoustimass 700 speaker system, when packed for shipping, is 56 lbs. While each surround speaker weighs 3.2 lbs., each cube speaker arrays weighs 2 lbs. The Acoustimass 700's module is the heaviest component, weighing 21.1 lbs.

    Compatibility

    • Not all speakers in a speaker system are compatible with the same audio/video receivers. The Bose Acoustimass 700's cube speaker arrays are compatible with A/V receivers that have power ratings of between 10 and 200 watts per channel. In comparison, the 700's surround speakers are compatible with A/V receivers that have power ratings of between 10 and 80 watts per channel.

    Impedance

    • Impedance refers to the amount of electrical resistance a component is able to tolerate in the presence of an alternating current. The cube speaker arrays and the surround speakers of the Bose Acoustimass 700 speaker system have the same impedance ratings, which are between 4 and 8 ohms. This means all of the system's speakers can withstand maximum resistances of 8 ohms. Supplying higher levels of power that generate higher resistances could result in speaker blow-outs or other issues.

    Driver Specs

    • The Bose Acoustimass 700's surround speakers and cube speakers rely on different types of drivers. Drivers are the devices that convert electrical currents into sound waves. While each of the system's surround speakers uses dual 4.5-inch, full-range, unshielded drivers, each of the cube speaker arrays uses dual 2.5 inch, wide-range, magnetically-shielded drivers. The 700's Acoustimass module uses two 5.25-inch, low-frequency, dual voice coil drivers.

    Finish

    • The surround speakers and cube speaker arrays of the Bose Acoustimass 700 speaker system have the same type of external coating, which is a polymer finish. In comparison, the system's module has a vinyl veneer finish, which makes the module resistant to scratching.
