- Rubbing alcohol removes ink stains on hard surfaces as well as fabrics and clothes. Apply the rubbing alcohol to the ink stain with a clean cloth until you've removed it. Take care to dab rather than rub the ink stain to avoid spreading the ink stain further or working it into the surface more. You can also spray hairspray onto the stain, and the alcohol in the hairspray will help remove the stain.
- Use white toothpaste to remove ink stains from fabric. The toothpaste acts as a very mild abrasive that will gently work away the ink stain. Only use the toothpaste for removing ink stains from washable fabrics.
- Vinegar is another household product that will remove ink stains in fabric and on metal, plastic or wood surfaces. Use distilled white vinegar. Apply the vinegar with a clean cloth and blot rather than rub the vinegar into the stain to remove it. Rinse the area with clear water to remove the vinegar smell.
- Baking soda is another common household cleaning product. To use it to clean ink stains, add just enough water to a few tablespoons of baking soda to make a thick paste. The paste should be the same consistency as toothpaste or thick frosting. Apply the baking soda paste to the ink stain, and work it in with a soft-bristled brush or a clean cloth.
