- To clean vinyl siding, the best bleach to water ratio to use is one part liquid laundry bleach to three parts water. Add half as much powdered laundry detergent as bleach to the mixture to increase the cleaning power and help the bleach penetrate any organic matter staining the siding, like mildew or moss.
- When cleaning vinyl siding, use a long-handled brush that attaches to your garden hose, or a similar brush used in car washing. Begin washing the siding up at ground level and work your way up. This helps eliminate streaks. Rinse the siding with water once finished.
- The runoff from the cleaning solution can damage any plants it contacts. If you have bushes planted against the side of your house, cover them with plastic to protect them while you clean the siding. If any stains remain after you clean the siding, a standard household cleaner and a soft sponge should remove them.
