- 1). Play through the Johto Pokemon League. This requires you to defeat the eight regional Gym Leaders and then challenge the Elite Four and Pokemon Champion at the Indigo Plateau.
- 2). Play through the Kanto Pokemon League. You must defeat the eight regional Gym Leaders in Kanto and then challenge Pokemon Trainer Red at Mount Silver.
- 3). Travel to Pallet Town in western Kanto.
- 4). Enter the laboratory in the south section of the town and talk to Professor Oak. He will give you HM08.
- 5). Select HM08 from your inventory and use it on a Pokemon. That Pokemon will acquire the Rock Climb ability.
- 6). Return to any areas that contain rock walls marked with tracks.
- 7). Select Rock Climb from your Pokemon’s status menu. You will be propelled up or down the wall.
