Steampunk, a mash-up of Jules Verne / turn of the century sci-fi is hotter than ever, as many fans donned goggles and Victorian garb at Fanime. At the same time, I saw many cosplayers in full military regalia in tribute to Axis Powers Hetalia, a wacky cross-cultural manga comedy that imagines the various nations involved in World War II as very cute boys.
But both trends at the same time? That idea was manifested by this foursome who put their own spin on these popular cosplay themes.
