- 1). Fix the problem that is causing the mildew in the first place. Mildew will return quickly if the moisture problem has not been addressed. Consider investing in a dehumidifier.
- 2). Remove any surface mildew with a scraper or paper towels.
- 3). Scrub mildewed surfaces with hot, soapy water. Use a scrub brush or Scotch-Brite pads to clean them thoroughly.
- 4). Rinse the surface with water. Mildew can grow on soap, so it's important not to leave behind any residue.
- 5). Mix a 50/50 solution of water and rubbing alcohol. Apply it to the mildewed area and let it air-dry. The alcohol will kill the mildew.
