- 1). Fill a bucket with warm water. Add 2 tbsp. pure lye or caustic soda. Allow the lye to fully dissolve in the water.
- 2). Place the glassware into the solution so it is fully submerged. Allow it soak overnight.
- 3). Lift the glassware from the water. Use a scrubbing pad to scrub off any remaining Teflon. The Teflon will be extremely soft and will wipe off.
- 4). Wash the glassware thoroughly by hand. Fill the sink with warm, soapy water and use a sponge to wash the glassware. Rinse in cool water. Even if the glassware is dishwasher-safe, it should not be washed in the dishwasher as the lye residue can corrode the racks and metal parts in the dishwasher.
